This is possible by making sure your augmentation goals are realistic to your overall body proportions and to ensure that the right size and shape implants are selected.
During your breast augmentation consultation with Dr. Sharma or Dr. Mazza, they will have an in-depth conversation with you about your desired augmentation goals and the best surgical options to achieve them. At this time you can see before and after photos of previous breast augmentation patients. Our expert breast surgeons will have you try on various sizes of implants in order for the patient to have a good perspective to help gauge breast implant sizes.
Breast augmentation patients should be 18 years or older, in good health, have finished with breast-feeding at least three months prior to breast augmentation surgery, and defer pregnancy for a least a year. Dr. Sharma and Dr. Mazza will also conduct a medical examination and review your health history.
The next important step is to select and fit your breast implants. This is a critical step so that you achieve your desired proportion and shape goals. Our plastic surgeons will guide you through this process along with recommending the best surgical technique (breast implant approach) to provide the best cosmetic result. Breast Augmentation Procedure and Recovery
Dr. Sharma and Dr. Mazza typically begin breast augmentation surgery with an incision, made either in the crease of the breast, or the perimeter of the areola (the dark skin surrounding the nipple). The selected placement of the incision is variable for patients due to individual body types or previous incisions.
Once the incision is made, a pocket is created underneath the breast tissue or under the chest wall muscle to place the implant. The incision is then carefully sutured.
Once the incisions have been closed and taped, the breasts are wrapped and supported by a gauze bandage. The recovery for breast augmentation patients is well-tolerated and there are no drains used. Patients wear a post-operative bra that is front closure for several weeks. Pain medication for soreness and any pain can be given. Swelling gradually subsides and stitches are removed within seven to ten days. Patients are able to return to work within a week’s time, with the restriction of no lifting over 15lbs for the first 3 weeks.
